MEADMAKER NOTES
THE BEST PAIRINGS WITH MORUS
These pairings showcase the unique characteristics of MORUS while offering a taste of Costa Rican cuisine. The beer's fruity notes, moderate bitterness, and slightly sweet finish make it versatile enough to pair with a variety of dishes.
CHIFRIJO
This traditional Costa Rican appetizer pairs excellently with MORUS. The combination of crispy pork rinds, black beans, and rice offers a hearty contrast to the beer's medium to light body. The slight sweetness of the blackberries in MORUS will complement the saltiness of the pork, while the moderate bitterness will cut through the richness of the dish. The carbonation of the beer will help cleanse your palate between bites. Serve the chifrijo with pico de gallo on top for added freshness that will echo the fruity notes in the beer.
HEART OF PALM SALAD WITH AVOCADO
A heart of palm salad with avocado is a refreshing Costa Rican dish that will pair beautifully with MORUS. The creamy avocado will contrast well with the carbonation of the beer, while the slight acidity of the heart of palm will complement the blackberry notes. Add some citrus segments to the salad to enhance the fruit flavors of the beer. The light and refreshing nature of this salad will balance well with the medium body of MORUS, making this a perfect pairing for a warm day.
ROASTED CHICKEN WITH TAMARIND SAUCE
Roasted chicken with tamarind sauce is an excellent main dish to pair with MORUS. The sweet and tart notes of the tamarind sauce will harmonize with the blackberry flavors in the beer, while the moderate bitterness of MORUS will cut the richness of the roast chicken. The spicy notes in the beer will complement any herbs used in roasting the chicken. Serve this dish with gallo pinto (Costa Rican rice and beans) on the side. The slightly sweet finish of MORUS will provide a nice contrast to the savory elements of this meal.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MORUS
The ideal temperature to serve MORUS is between 7°C and 10°C (45°F - 50°F) . This temperature allows the fruity aromas of the mulberry and the spicy notes to be fully expressed, while maintaining the refreshing quality of the beer. At this temperature, the balance between the sweetness of the fruit and the moderate bitterness of the hops is also better appreciated.
For more information, see our blog post on Ideal Temperatures for Serving Honey Wines, Meads, and Beers .
For MORUS, we recommend a tulip glass or a globe-shaped craft beer glass. These types of glasses concentrate the fruity aromas in the upper part, allowing you to better appreciate the nuances of the mulberry and the spicy notes. In addition, the shape of the glass helps keep carbonation moderate and allows you to observe the attractive dark red color of the beer.

MORUS should be stored in a cool, dark place, ideally at a constant temperature between 10°C and 13°C (50°F - 55°F). Avoid direct exposure to sunlight and sudden changes in temperature, as these can negatively affect the flavor and quality of the beer. Keep bottles upright to minimize air contact surface at bottle neck.
MORUS has a shelf life of approximately 6 to 12 months from its manufacturing date, if stored correctly. However, to enjoy the fresh fruit flavors and spicy notes at their optimum, I would recommend consuming it within the first 3 to 6 months. Remember that craft beers, especially those containing fruit, tend to evolve over time, so flavors may change subtly as the beer ages.
